With all of our training going into overdrive, and the finalization
of certain expedition needs like food and beverage needs, it is all
coming to fruition. We have all been working hard to make this happen
and it is almost here!
Another exiting event that the Snowmelt
would like to announce is the Mill Creek Clean Up Day. As it is the
goal to not only climb a mountain but it is the goal to also preserve
the places that spark our very interest to go seek such adventures.
Mill Creek sits as one of the gateways to the San Bernardino National
Forest and is also a product of the snow melt from San Gorgonio. These
waters give life in so many ways and in some cases are the first
introduction to many to the wilderness. With that I feel it is our duty as
stewards to these places to protect and preserve them.
I spent a
day last week walking through the area proposed for the clean up to
see just how bad it is... and that was all we needed go forth with our
plans for a clean up day. It saddens me to think that the number of
people who care for theses delicate places are so far outnumbered by
the those who unfortunately have not been given the opportunity to
learn of the effects we have on our environment.
So
here it is! Also please be advised that the date have not been
officially confirmed. And we will have more info soon as well as event
sponsors and the days schedule.
