With the three month marker upon us it is time to kick things up a notch. This is the point that training will intensify and we will revisit the technical side of this climb. With the pages of "Freedom Of The Hills", "The Mountaineering Handbook" and "Denali's West Buttress" now being the words that again keep me up at night I have jumped headlong back into the mass amounts of info to prepare for this expedition. I am also pleased to tell you that an article came out in my (Jacob Goff) local paper. http://www.redlandsdailyfacts.com/ourtown/ci_17492679
It is great to see that others also see how important organizations like the SGWA.ORG are. We live in a time that technology, politics and the consumer market place has overshadowed so many ideas and work that those who came before us so passionately were able to protect. Now it is up to us to not only juggle the complexities of the world today but also strive to protect the delicate places of the world for they can be gone in an instance.
Our second round of items have just finished selling and we were able to raise $250 through donated goods from Snowmelt supporters. We have now also just released the Snowmelt tee in which $10 from every tee will be donated to the SGWA. This also has been made possible thanks to our friends and local supporters of the Snowmelt.
I do however want to stress that though the SGWA is a non profit and much of what they are able to do is funded by generous donations its also action and education that will further perpetuate the plight of causes like ours. With this, the Snowmelt will also be hosting two clean up days in conjuction with the SGWA in our local mountains. Its occasions like these that we can host community events that may spark a personal interest in the wilderness that can last a lifetime.
We want to thank everyone for their support and hope that in the end we can start something that will last a lifetime all on our adventure NORTH.
