A few new and exiting things!

When preparing for a trip such as a Denali Expedition there are so many things that come into play, so many things needed to be done. There is one thing however that when done can in a way solidify all you notions and excitement about the upcoming venture. It is sometimes hard to realize how big an objective is until it becomes real. Its the pleasure of clicking the last button on an airlines website that really pulls everything together. And now for most of us on the Denali Expedition, our plans are concrete. We are really doing this, there is no turning back now!

So with the Denali plans solidified in almost every possible way we are now left to train our butts off until we say goodbye to our friends and family and head North. That being said tomorrow I, Jacob have decided to test myself in a little thing called the Run Through Redlands. See, I had the idea of running it... thought it would be a good change to my normal training... but then I opened my mouth. "Hey I should run with my pack on", why I say the things I say I will never know but I do know that tomorrow I will have a quite the task ahead of me but luckily for my roommate Tom is also crazy enough to keep me company with his pack as well, glad I'm not the only nutcase on the block!

All kidding aside the main reason I am doing the run Is to raise awareness for the SGWA and what The Snowmelt is trying to accomplish. I for one feel strongly about  what we are doing and what we have been able to accomplish thus far. There are only a few places left where we can walk out our front doors and within minutes be in a place as empty as Alaska and San Gorgonio Wilderness is one of them. Its places like these that create the interest in people to seek adventure in the outdoors, find a love for the environment and become the people that will eventually save the world from our devastating hands. I know that  in the end I may have little impact on the world but through all of this, it would be the hope that The Snowmelt may inspire at least one person to think differently about the world around us and our effect on what treasures we have left.

Now with all of that, here is your chance to help make a difference so mark your calendars!
We will begin sign ups next week for the event so stay tuned or feel free to email jkgoff@gmail.com to be added to our Clean Up Day contact list. Hope to see you there! And wish us luck on our run!
